    Miao Changwen

    Born in August 1957, Miao Changwen is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor. The recipient of the “Scientific and Technological Innovation Award” bestowed by the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, “Fourth National Outstanding Professional Technical Talents Award”, and “First Pioneering and Innovation Talent Award of Jiangsu Province”, Prof. Miao has also been recognized as one of the “Top Ten Outstanding Patent Inventors of Jiangsu Province”, an expert with access to the “Special Government Allowance of the State Council”, “Highly Acclaimed Overseas Returnee of Jiangsu Province”, one of the “Top Ten Meritorious Workers in Science and Technology in Nanjing”, and “Model Worker of Jiangsu Province”.

    Academic activities: Vice President of China Building Materials Federation, Executive Member of the Council of China Civil Engineering Society, Vice Chairman of China Concrete Admixture Association, Chairman of Admixture Professional Committee of China Civil Engineering Society, President of Jiangsu Civil & Architectural Engineering Society.


    Major academic achievements: Prof. Miao has been engaged in theoretical research, engineering technology and the application of civil engineering materials over a long period of time, and has been working on the front line of national major construction projects for over 30 years. He has successively undertaken more than 30 national, provincial and ministerial research projects, including the “973” National Fundamental Program and key projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation. His research in the areas of concrete crack resistance, improvement of service life and durability of major infrastructure projects, and multifunctional civil engineering materials, has led to successful applications in major construction projects, thus making significant contributions towards civil engineering construction in China. The recipient of one State Technological Invention Award (Second Prize), three State Scientific and Technological Progress Awards (Second Prize), and seven Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards (First Prize), Prof. Miao is the owner of 82 national invention patents, as well as an internationally-acclaimed author of 4 published monographs and more than 200 papers, among which 150 papers have been indexed by SCI, EI or ISTP.

    Liu Jiaping

    Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Director of State Key Laboratory of High Performance Civil Engineering Materials. The recipient of the “National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars”, “National Labor Day Medal”, “National Award for Youths in Science & Technology”, “Provincial Award for Entrepreneurial Talents”, Prof. Liu has been recognized as an expert with access to the “Special Government Allowance of the State Council ”. He has also been elected as a National Candidate under the “New Century Talents Project”, listed as one of the “Young and Middle-aged Leading Scientists, Engineers and Innovators”, recognized as a member of the “Technology Entrepreneurs Cultivation Project”, “Top Talent in Six Industrial Areas Program of Jiangsu Province” and was selected into the “333 Project of Jiangsu Province”.


    Main research fields: High performance concrete, cracking and deformation of cement materials, concrete durability


    Academic activities: Member of the Technical Expert Committee in Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development; Vice Director of the Professional Committee for Concrete Admixtures Application Technology Building Materials Branch of the Architectural Society of China; Vice Director of the Professional Committee for Expansive and Self-stressing Concrete & Concrete and Cement Product Branch of the Chinese Ceramic Society; Member of the Professional Committee for High-performance Concrete, Concrete and Cement Product Branch of the Chinese Ceramic Society; Vice Director of the Professional Committee for Building Structure and Lightweight Panels, House Building Materials Branch of the Chinese Ceramic Society; Vice President of American Concrete Society China Branch; Executive Member of Jiangsu Civil Engineering & Architectural Society and Director of the Professional Committee for Building Materials, Vice Director of Jiangsu Ceramic Society.


    Major academic achievements:He has successively undertaken or participated in more than 30 research projects, including the “973” National Fundamental Program, National Natural Science Foundation Projects, and National Programs for Science and Technology Development. He is the recipient of one State Technological Invention Award (Second Prize), three State Scientific and Technological Progress Awards (Second Prize), one Provincial Technological Invention Award (First Prize), as well as ten Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards (First Prize and Second Prize). He has published more than 400 scientific papers, among which 64 have been indexed by SCI and 86 have been indexed by EI & ISTP. He has drafted or co-drafted 15 standards, and has applied for more than 260 invention patents. His research findings have been successfully applied in major national engineering projects, such as the Three Gorges, Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway, Tianwan Nuclear Power Station, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge etc.


    Ran Qianping

    Ph.D., Professor Level Senior Engineer, Doctoral Supervisor, Chief Scientist of State Key Laboratory of High Performance Civil Engineering Materials. He is the recipient of the “National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars”, “Qiushi Achievement Transformation Awards for Outstanding Youths” and “National Award for Youths in Science &Technology;”. In addition, Prof. Ran has been recognized as a leading scientist in scientific and technological innovation under the “Ten Thousand Talent Program”, one of the “Young and Middle-aged Leading Scientists, Engineers and Innovators”, a National Candidate under the “New Century Talents Project”, and was selected into the “333 Project of Jiangsu Province”. Apart from being recognized as an expert with access to the “Special Government Allowance of the State Council”, he is also the winner of “National Young and Middle-aged Experts with Notable Contributions”, “Young and Middle-aged Experts with Notable Contributions towards Jiangsu Province”, one of the “Top Ten Young Talents in Technology in Jiangsu Province”, and one of the “Top Ten Talents in Technology in Nanjing”.


    Major academic achievements:Prof. Ran’s research focuses on polymers (chemical admixtures; materials for waterproofing, reparation and strengthening). He has undertaken or participated in more than 20 research projects, including the “973” National Fundamental Program. He is the recipient of one State Technological Invention Award (Second Prize), one State Scientific and Technological Progress Award (Second Prize), and five Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards (First Prize). He owns more than 180 invention patents and has published more than 80 papers that have been indexed by SCI. He has co-drafted 8 state and industrial standards.

    Hong Jinxiang

    Ph.D., Professor Level Senior Engineer. Recognized as a leading scientist in scientific and technological innovation under the “Ten Thousand Talents Program”, an expert with access to the “Special Government Allowance of the State Council”, and one of the “Young and Middle-aged in Scientists, Prof. Hong has been selected into the “333 Project of Jiangsu Province” and “Summit Talent in Six Industrial Areas Program of Jiangsu Province”. In addition, he is the recipient of the “Youths in Science and Technology” awarded by the Chinese Ceramic Society, “Labor Day Medal of Jiangsu Province”, “Outstanding Young Role Model of Jiangsu Province”.


    Major academic achievements:Prof. Hong’s research focuses on early-enhancing cement materials and cement-asphalt mortar. He has undertaken or participated in more than 40 research projects, including the “973” National Fundamental Program and National Natural Science Foundation Projects. He has invented elastic vibration adsorption materials for high speed rail, ultra-high early-enhancing polymer, early-enhancing grouting materials, and semi flexible anti-rutting road materials, which have been applied in national key projects, such as the Sutong Bridge and Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway. He is the recipient of one State Technological Invention Award (Second Prize), and two Provincial Science and Technology Process Awards (First Prize). He has published 117 papers, among which 58 have been cited by SCI & EI, and has applied for 72 invention patents, among which 61 have been granted.

    Tian Qian

    Ph.D. from the Technical University of Denmark and Purdue University, Professor Level Senior Engineer. A member of the Development Advisory Committee of RILEM, she has been recognized as one of the leading scientists in scientific and technological innovation under the “Ten Thousand Talents Program”, one of the “Young and Middle-aged Leading Scientists, Engineers and Innovators”, one of the “Top Ten Young Talents in Technology in Jiangsu Province”, one of the “Young and Middle-aged Experts with Notable Contributions towards Nanjing”, and one of the “Young and Middle-aged Industry Leaders in Technical Disciplines in Nanjing”. In addition, Prof. Tian is part of the “333 Project of Jiangsu Province”, and has been selected to be “a Role Model for March 8 (International Women's Day)” and a torchbearer for the 2008 Olympic Games.


    Major academic achievements:Prof. Tian’s research focuses on the deformation and cracking of concrete. She has undertaken or participated in over 40 scientific research projects, including the “973” National Fundamental Program, National Natural Science Foundation Projects, the Six Top Talent Program of Jiangsu Province, and other provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. She is the recipient of one State Technological Invention Award (Second Prize), two State Scientific and Technological Progress Awards (Second Prize), two Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards (First Prize), three Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards (Second Prize), and two Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards (Third Prize). She is the owner of 40 invention patents and has published 100 papers, among which over 40 have been cited by SCI & EI. She has also co-drafted 3 industry standards.

    Liu Jianzhong?

    Ph.D., Professor Level Senior Engineer, Deputy Chief Engineer, part of the “333 Project of Jiangsu Province”. Recognized as one of the “Young and Middle-aged Industry Leaders in Technical Disciplines in Nanjing”, “Young and Middle-aged Top-notch Talents of Nanjing”, Prof. Liu is the recipient of the “Award for Youths in Science & Technology in Jiangsu Province”, the “Youths in Science & Technology” awarded by the Chinese Ceramic Society, and the “Labor Day Medal of Nanjing City”.


    Major academic achievements:His research focuses on high performance concrete and fiber-reinforced cement composites. He has undertaken or participated in over 20 scientific research projects, including the “973” National Fundamental Program, National Natural Science Foundation Projects, the Six Top Talent Program of Jiangsu Province, and other provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. His research achievements have been applied in national key projects, such as the Sutong Bridge, Tianwan Nuclear Power Station, Nanjing Metro, Nanjing Fifth Yangtze River Bridge, CITIC Tower etc. He is the recipient of two State Scientific and Technological Progress Awards (Second Prize), one Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Award (Special Prize), five Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards (First Prize), and three Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards (Second Prize). He has published over 170 papers, among which more than 60 have been cited by SCI & EI. He owns 50 invention patents and has co-drafted 10 industry and provincial standards.
